I worked my butt off last week and then drove all weekend.
It is the Monday before election day. Why is it on a Tuesday? I want an answer. We citizens exercise our right to participate in our democracy, the democratic republic, in which we Americans live — the United States of America.
We should vote on a weekend, or have nationwide vote by mail. Arizona where I vote, and have already voted early, by mail, gives citizens the ability to permanently add themselves to the early vote by mail registry.
We were one of the first states to add candidate ability to run on clean election candidacy.
But we did produce Joe Arpaio — the vile bastard who made women give birth in shackles! And we allowed a madman to shoot Representative Gabby Giffords, kill Christina Taylor Green and several other good people. Friends of mine were also severely wounded in that Tucson, Congress on Your Corner, massacre.
Parkland happened this year. We have to get rid of AR-15s and high-powered hunting rifles. There is no NEED for them. People hunt on land I own. I am not anti-hunting. I am anti- war weaponry.
A few days ago I found my brother’s flag from his military funeral. If it was not for the horrible, unnecessary war, he would still be alive and living in his once beautiful home.
Weapons of war have no place in our democracy especially with a fascist in the Whitehouse encouraging domestic terrorism such as we have seen in the last month. Even Fox has headlines such as Synagogue shooting worst of many hateful attacks in October.
The woman who is my current Rep, Martha McSally, may be able to sing, but she refused to have in person town halls with us, with her constituents. She does not deserve to be a Senator. And anyway, she was born and raised in Rhode Island. Only after retiring from the military, which she did in 2010, could she eventually move to Arizona and establish residency so she could run for office.
We need states to be governed by people from those states who are elected from non-gerrymandered states.
I am holding my breath for tomorrow. Then I am getting to work on 2020 – both for the presidential election and for the 100th anniversary of women gaining the right to vote.
I have met so many wonderful people during this trip. I cannot believe they would vote for hate, support domestic terrorism, or the massacre of Jewish elders.
Pray for peace, and vote.
