This is a significant ruling for “be the media” bloggers like myself that I somehow missed in May.
Apple loses bid to have blogs disqualified as legitimate news entities. This is very important for small players like Build Peace that break original local stories only a few times a year. We have journalistic status and protection and can protect sources. Trade secrets are not quite like national security secrets supposedly — but still it is good to know that some folks in the judicial system belie in free speech and freedom of the press.
