In April of this year, ending just a few days ago, I completed the Blogging A to Z Challenge with 26 posts on this site. One was put up each day, Monday through Saturday, with Sundays off. Such a schedule allows for the writing days and days off to equal the number of the days of the month. The challenge occurs every April.
This was a tactic I employed to draft many posts in a short time. In order to post a reasonable assemblage of writings, I had to plan out the posts and the topics appropriate to this site that they would cover. Having my own theme of legacy provided a cohesion that made the challenge much easier than the first time I did this a few years ago.

To add some variety and try out categories for the new blog, I tried to spread out the posts so that all categories were covered. The color coding above and below shows that attempt. What I realized is that I need more work on differentiating a couple of the categories. I also realized where I have the most writing to do – spirituality. This surprised me as I thought I touched on the subject more than I did.
- Archeology & Material Culture
- Biology & Genetics
- Information
- Inspiration
- Reframing
- Spirituality
- Tech & Tools
- Wisdom
I will continue to read many of the blogs I did not get to, and I will use all the information I gathered during the month to make my site structure and content stronger.
I also have to give a shout out to Pam from Pink Is An Attitude as going through the challenge with a buddy made it all much easier, more enjoyable, and provided accountability.
April was a wonderful month full of learning, and while this was a challenge, it was a challenge in the sense that it provided motivation not that it was tiresome or difficult. I recommend the Blogging A to Z Challenge to any writer who needs some “oomph” for writing more often, who wants to tackle a subject in some detail, and who has lots to say on a subject but has not found a structure for handling the subject.
I will be back next year. I am already thinking about what sort of a thematic series I could do. Tools of Legacy Makers maybe. We will just have to wait and see.
Just now getting around to visiting the blogs in the challenge. April was a busy month for me. Congrats on completing the A to Z Challenge! Looking forward to next year! See you on the Road Trip!
