NaBloPoMo: Writing Every Day and Serving Whom?

I am contemplating signing up for September’s NaBloPoMo over at BlogHer.  A pledge to write everyday is no biggy for me, but a  pledge to post every day on the same blog is a bit of a serious commitment for me.  NaBloPoMo started as National Blog Posting Month, a writing challenge, a few years ago.  It has morphed into the Social Media section’s ongoing monthly challenge on BlogHer  Every month there is a new theme upon which participants may choose to focus their writings for the month or not.  Participation is open for the first five days of the month, every month.  The only real requirement other than meeting the time constraint is to pledge to not only write, but to post, every single day on your blog.

There are three components to registering and participating in the challenge in addition to writing every single day on your blog:

1. Register on the site
2. Check out the prompts section for ideas
3. List your individual posts

There are also other things you can do that make for a better NaBloPoMo experience:

1. Read other participating blogs and posts.
2. Plan out several anchor posts that connect your writing for the month to the theme of month.  You might even have a serialized post that covers several aspects of a topic about which you feel a particular passion.

Most people only have one blog.  I’m not most people.  I have my personal blog (this blog), Reason Creek, and I have my business site, Hill Research Services, where I post articles too.  I am in the process of stepping up my writing and content business so I am writing a lot.  But that does not mean I am too busy to write every day.  It just means  that I have to be disciplined.  The more I write, the better I get at the process of writing.
The theme for this month is Serve.  The topic was a no-brainer for me.  Everything I do serves some purpose.  A topic like this gives me the opportunity to align and strengthen my company mission as well as my personal efforts at service.  I write informational articles.  The style can vary from flippant and humorous to serious reporting, but I always try to write something that may help someone by providing an information rich post.
Should I do it?  Do you ever write every single day?
