Happy Earth Day!
I’m thinking of Earth Sisters near and far throughout time and space this Earth Day when we honor Mother Earth.
Environmentalists
I want to give a shout out to some of the women who influenced my understanding of the fragile globe we live upon.
Rachel read Gene as a child according to Linda Lear’s biography of Carson. I read them both. I was a Girl of the Limberlost, although my swampy nursery was much closer to the Wildflower Woods of Noble County, Indiana than the Limberlost Swamp south of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
A Generational Sister Just Passed
This morning I awoke to my husband telling me that Chrissy Amphlett had passed on. She suffered from MS and since 2010, breast cancer. She was only 53. Chrissy was the voice, heart and soul of the DiVinyls, who released 6 albums, but she also performed in film and on the stage.
She was certainly earthy.

I tweeted this out shortly thereafter: Chrissy wanted Divinyls hit “I Touch Myself” to remind women to perform routine breast examinations #chrissyamphlett ow.ly/kiSpr Let’s make sure her message gets out! Do a breast self-exam. and get routine mammography per your health guidelines.
Sisters Rising
Shout out to a new site: WHOA Network (Women Honoring Our Age.) And may I say that I feel the Mother rising through the voice of all my sisters of a certain age. Our online voice is growing stronger and we are building the future into a peaceful and cooperative reality for our children and theirs.
