Fortuitous Foreshadowing

I am republishing most of a 2009 post that illustrates what a consistent vision can do. I have been moving to the point where I am now steadily over the last few years. It is good to look forward and envision what you are doing and where you are going. It is more than positive self-talk. Envisioning the future helps plan it in ways beyond our conscious action.

So here is what I wrote in 2009:

I am an open source person. I believe it is ethical to share. I'm continually amazed that so many of the smart small business owners I meet as well as a significant number of over 40 women with whom I chat do not have a good understanding of modern communication technology and culture. I've been giving what I know away for free for at least a couple decades.

…

I'm branching out, while pruning, in order to build strong new branch growth in my life. My anthropological background, being tech savvy, and knowledgeable in demographics, graphics, organizational processes, content management and web design have guided me to decide that I must formalize what I've done for years. Give people information they need to know. I deal best with small businesses and am motivated to help women succeed in this 21st Century that is now a young child developmentally.

I believe in open source applications, self-organization, frugality, and empowerment.

My focus this (second decade of the millennium) will be belping small businesses and women owned businesses simplify their web communications and identity in order to optimize money spent, maintenance, information flow, and comfort. People are being bilked for millions if not billions of dollars every year paying for websites that don't work, that they don't know how to update, that they paid far too much to create, and are over a barrel when it needs an update. This doesn't have to happen. I want to help regular people have ease of access, control, and comfort over all aspects of their businesses. Blog entries and articles on this site will include of specific information about nifty concepts anyone can easily apply to their businesses large or small.

I don't believe in closed systems. They just don't exist. I like to share what I know. It benefits everyone.

…

Tomorrow I will host a Meet Up for Tucson Women Bloggers and give away info about effective blogging and social media. It is good to see the progress I have made toward my highest level goals. I now have a business behind the information so that if people like what they see in the public venue they can purchase blog, tech, or brand assistance if they connect with my presentation style and material.

This ability to compare my change and consistency through time, progress if you will, may be one of the most useful aspect of blogging for me. While my posts are not diary-like, they do capture elements of my self that are honest views of what I'm thinking and doing, not what I said I was thinking and doing.
