Some of the best Gelato in the world can be found in Tucson, AZ. Frost is on the far side of town from us, but we managed a quick visit after we signed some documents we needed to at the office of our tax accountant that is right around the corner from Frost.
I have not been to Italy for real gelato but I know smooth creamy goodness. I know that icy sorbet tries to pass itself off as gelato. I know what real hand cranked ice cream tastes like. Frost Gelato is creamy, flavorful, sweet. Flavorful and flavor rich. The flavors are delightfully diverse, vary on a daily basis, and freshly made by a real Italian Gelato master. There are dietetic offerings too, usually two different flavors.
And did I mention that the décor is sleek, bright, and clean. The display of the flavors is beautifully presented with flours, sliced and artfully carved fruit, husks, champagne corks, and other goodies appropriate for arranging into a vegetal still life. The visual beauty is almost as good as the flavors themselves.
