Gimme a break. Can't people think?

Jon Stewart, Enemy of the People?  Geesh.  Richard Morin of the Washington Post must be on the take or really stupid.  How can anyone who purports to interpret information and pass it on truthfully (such as moi –albeit in my case with a definite perspective… but I digress…) possibly be so sloppy in dispersing the facts?

Morin says,

Two political scientists found that young people who watch Stewart’s
faux news program, “The Daily Show,” develop cynical views about
politics and politicians that could lead them to just say no to voting.

Geez O Pete… why the hell shouldn’t kids be cynical when it comes to politics?  At least they are watching a show that talks about and with newsmakers of the day.  (Coming up this week as guests, according to their web site, are Lance Armstrong, Helen Thomas, Al Gore and Kevin Spacey!  Morin says the research shows that watching The Daily Show could lead them to just say no to voting.  Kids already don’t vote because they know elections are stolen, purchased, and sloppily conducted.  Maybe, rather than bashing someone reporting the truth in comedic fashion, we should fix our electoral and political systems?

I am soooo tired of fuzzy, ill-conceived arguments making it to the printed page.  That is the real enemy of the people!

So, the Daily Show is doing interviews with Helen Thomas and Al Gore? You mean they are doing interviews with serious political people? Wow…I can see why that show would make people cynical.

I find Daily Show interviews to be quite informative, actually. They are also fair and balanced, if that phrase can be used in anything but an ironic manner anymore.

This guy should be asking what the other networks are doing on their news programming. How many hours of the insufferable Glenn Beck and the air head Rita Crosby can the other networks run?
